Health and Medical Research Fund - Investigator-initiated Projects

The Health and Medical Research Fund invites applications for investigator-initiated research projects and health promotion projects. The closing date is 31 March 2023 (18:00 Hong Kong time). Results will be announced in September 2023 (tentative).

Applications can be submitted via the electronic Grant Management System (eGMS) (https://rfs.healthbureau.gov.hk/eGMS/) by completing the electronic Application Form by the above deadline.

FHB and Health and Medical Research Fund subsidise the third batch of COVID-19 research

The Food and Health Bureau and the HMRF supported another batch of 18 studies comprising portfolios of multiple projects which cover a wide range of topics, including evaluation of vaccine-induced immune response and safety in a range of populations including young adolescents, adults, elderly, and cohorts receiving booster vaccinations, as well as comparison of the immune status in naturally infected and vaccinated cohorts; research on the role of gut microbiota in enhancing immune response to vaccination; surveys on knowledge, confidence and acceptance of vaccination, and social and behavioural interventions to reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in different community groups.

FHB’s Health and Medical Research Fund subsidises second batch of COVID-19 research

The HMRF is going to support another batch of 23 research studies under its commissioned research programme which cover a wide range of topics including waste water and genomic surveillance to track SARS-CoV-2 transmission; identification of facilitators and barriers to public compliance with infection control measures; zoonotic risk in companion animals; effect of smoking and pre-exposure of influenza virus; screening of traditional Chinese medicine for antiviral compounds; rehabilitation management for COVID-19 survivors; and estimation of psychological burden.

FHB’s Health and Medical Research Fund subsidises COVID-19 research

The HMRF is going to support 26 research studies under its commissioned research programme which cover a wide range of topics to address important research areas in transmissibility and infectability of the virus, effective detection and surveillance and prevention strategies of the disease and development of treatments and therapies.
